So, it's been a while since I blogged. You see, school started for me. Too much writing already. Still, sometimes my writing needs to just be about something else besides the subject of my class. So here is the blog.
My classes are 8 weeks long. Yes, if you do the math, I've already started and finished one set of classes since I blogged last...oh, and I'm halfway through the second. The first set of classes were interesting...sort of. I'm not a history buff. Names and dates just don't stick in my head. So when I started back to school with an immediate upper division history class, I was kind of freaked out. I ended up getting a B. Not my finest hour, but it is finished and that is what counts. I am generally a straight A kind of person, but I'm finding out that it's just not always possible as an adult with 4 kids and 2 businesses and a house to keep up with...did I mention my husband? I have a lot on my plate, so I'm trying to be okay with the B. Don't judge me. Don't try to tell me that B's are good, either. I know what my expectations are for myself, I know they are high but that is because I'm capable of achieving them.
What else is going on? Becca and I joined in a new ministry at our church. We go out on Thursday nights and feed the homeless. Becca felt called to it and since I'm the mom, I joined her. I am feeling good about being a part of it still.
Becca came up with another idea that goes along with that one, too. She suggested that people get together at the church and make blankets and scarves for the homeless. It's been exciting to see her work this idea. We went to the swap meet the other day and she saw someone selling fleece and she was so excited to try to get some cheap fabric for this ministry. I'm excited to see her get so involved in ministry. I hope that she continues the excitement for serving God. She is filled with so many ideas and I love the idea of helping her sort through them.
Tony and his family just went through a huge change. His grandfather passed away. Tony has had a rough time with it. In the last few years he has lost too many grandparents. This was his last one. He has been really down.
Thanksgiving came and went. We did breakfast with my mom and grandmother then went to Tony's parents for a huge party for everyone who needed a place to be. There were something like 37 people there. Football and chatting and lots of food. It was a very social day...Tony had a hard time with that, but he made it. I'm pretty sure he is going to collapse soon. He has been amazing lately with the kids and I when I'm swamped.
Christmas is coming. We are going to be traveling for Christmas. Really, on the road on Christmas Day. My little brother and his family, my mom and grandma, and all of us will pile into two vehicles and get on the road to Oregon after my little brother is done with the Christmas Eve service at his church. We will drive through the night and get there sometime the next day. That should be fun.
Before the trip we will be having the Escarzaga family thing the Sunday before. It's usually on Christmas Eve, but since Tony and the kids and I will be gone, we asked for them to move it. My in laws are so flexible and awesome so they didn't mind. It is a fun family gathering, so I'm so glad that we don't have to miss it.
With school this year, I'm sad to say that the whole handmade thing I usually do is probably out of the question. I have a couple of quick things that I will probably do, but that's it. It's sad, but it's only a year...well, maybe 2. I will be graduating next year about that time (YAY!). It probably won't happen next year either.
Okay, I have to get back to work. Dinner and homework. I probably should talk to my kids a bit more too.
